Wink Getting close

Hey all, I am getting close to putting together the 428 for my senior project.
It's going into a 75 F-250 4x4- at 4900 lbs. 4.10 gears 30" tires and a man. 4 speed.
Here's whats going in it.
428 block- bored 30 over
TRW L2303NF30 pistons
Eagle H-beam rods
IU crank- internally balanced(complete rotating ***. balanced)
C4ae-g heads ported and polished SS CJ valves and polished chambers 71cc
Performer RPM intake port matched to the heads
Precision Oil Pumps full roller rocker set up
smith bro's custom pushrods
mallory 9000 series dist. with msd 6AL
Rollmaster timing set
Holley 750 cfm vac secs.
static comp. ratio should be about 10.2
This will not be a DD. Will not see off road. Will see track time and most likely a small hit of nitrous. I was wondering what would be a good cam for this thing. I am not worried about low end and a good lope is not a problem. My mentor has a crane 801 cam that I am considering. Also if anyone could put it on a Desktop dyno for a ballpark of what this thing might make, that would be great! I am sure I have forgotten something.
Thanks for your time!
Brandon

Well I dropped the crank in today and put a piston in to check my deck height- which turned out to be .02 . I can't wait to get it in the truck when finished. I would like to be able to run 91 octane and maybe some 100 or 110 for playing around.

Sounds like a nice project. If you don't mind me asking what did the balance job run you?

Thanks FFR, I am really enjoying building this engine. The balance job was $450. It had 2 mallory slugs in the front and 3 in the back. Is this a fairly good price for a balance job? The machinist was very thorough, he wanted EVERYTHING that was a part of the rotating assembly.

Well I'm looking at the same type of assy balance wise. And have yet to get a price for internal balance. So I was just curious. Sounds like he did a great job though. Lots of nice parts going together there!!!

I'm not up to date on stroker setups...whats this mallory slug you're talkin about? Some type of high rpm balancing job?

Sounds like quite the runner!

With the 801 cam, headers, and mufflers, my Desktop Dyno simulation says:
469hp @ 5500rpm
485ft-lbs @ 4500rpm
428ft-lbs @ 2000rpm

Through open headers:
496hp @ 6000rpm
499ft-lbs @ 4500rpm
442ft-lbs @ 2000rpm

Now that's using flow data for a set of heads with a very good porting job. YMMV!

Is there any E85 available in your area? That stuff will give you more power, is 105 octane, and is usually cheaper than gasoline!

Thanks for the numbers, Kurt! No there isn't any E85 around here but if it was I would probably consider using it. I decided to go with the 801 cam. This saturday I will have the cam in and I will degree it in.

Sounds Nice, but I have a wueation tho? I thought the C$ae heads had a 71 to 73 cc chamber in them? How did you get them polished and still only come up with 71cc's ? Did someone play with the Valves sitting in the seats to keep them at 71 cc's ?

I'am just curious...

I am not sure how they came up as 71cc. I bought these C4AE-G heads from someone that had them on a supercharged 390 in a galaxie and he did all the work. He said that the surface was slightly cut. Maybe the seats held it to 71 when they were cut and the CJ valves were installed? I cc'ed them about a month ago.

Ok I was just wondering, then someone has put some good time in those heads and knew what they were doing....then..because you have to spend alotof time on them to keep all the chambers equal if they have been polished..Valve job and seats...You have a nice set of heads to work with now!! Good Luck on the build..
