F'd over rebuilt dodge..

I've bought an 89 Bronco that for 150+ thousand miles was riden hard and put away wet, totaled and partially roled at least once, but has had an oil change every 16,000 miles whether it needed it or not. the clutch bottoms out, transmission smells very bad engine has no compression (but is the only thing that doesn't leak or overheat) and the trasfer case always has the 4x4 light on.

I want to swap out the engine, trany (5-speed) and transfer case for starters, we'll go from there.

Has any one done this? and do you have any nuggets of wisdom? I thought about rebuilding all of the above mentioned components but considering the condition of the whole drive train I think it's easier and more cost effective to just cruise around on e-bay and get the parts there.

Why don't you just give me your wallet, and I'll kick you .......
That way you get the same experience as trying to fix this beast, and you will save a lot of time.

RazorRazor, that is not nice, funny, but not nice. I have to agree that you should wash your hands of this vehicle, unless you don't mind spending a BUNCH of money and about double that much time.

I'll mail them both to you. I keep them in a jar on the dash board.

OK even though I am ROFLMAO at the previous posts, lets pretend you are serious.

What motor, tranny and t-case would you like to use?

The current drive train is a 302 with a mazda 5 speed and a 56 seried transfer case. I want to go to a 460 and a matched 5 speed. Will the existing transfer case work?
