1-2nd hard transmission shift

Ok I haven't posted in awhile, but today I got on the accelerator very hard and when it shifted from first to second the shift was alot harder than normal. This was with O/D off. So I tried it again with O/D on same thing, but not quite as hard of a shift. If the O/D is off whenever it shifts it will actually make the serpentine belt slip to the point it squeels alittle. Any body else had the same issue. Any help greatly appreciated.

If I get on the accelerator hard from a stop my tranny shifts harder than if I accelerate slowly.

I just did a hard accel yesterday to get around granny getting on the highway. Harder shift in all gears under hard acceleration.

You may want to change your belt. If sounds like it's worn/glazed.

I took it in to ford today and at first they said everything was fine. Then I took them for a ride in it and the tech heard it too he said that wasnt right. He told me it might be a mount made sense to me so they retorqued all the mount and said it was good to go. So I take got down the road 5 minutes and it was still shifting hard into second from first so I take it back to them right then and they keep it for the day. So I get a call late this afternoon and they say its fine and they cant find anything wrong with it. They state they called the manufactor and under normal operating conditions theres nothing wrong with it.

It only has this condition whenever its at normal operating temperature.
Any advice, Any suggestions, And Any comments welcome

Hard shifting tranny

Did you get this figured out? I am considering an f350 7.3l that seems to shift a little hard. Normal?

the 7.3 has a different transmission. they are supposed to shift a little hard. the superduties are expected to pull heavy loads, so the nice soft shifts can't be used. it actually causes wear/tear for the transmission to shift softly.

I have the same problem. They said the intermediate piston is a known problem. They have ordered the part for mine. I only have the hard shift from 1st to 2nd under WOT. If makes you worried you are going to grenade the tranny, doesn't it?

WOW!!! You are the first person that I have found that has the same problem. Ya mine is back in the shop right now for the same problem. Whenever it makes the shift it sounds like the tranny is gonna grenade I keep waiting for a huge boom. Does your make your sepentine belt chirp whenever your truck shifts?

I've actually noticed this problem in my truck. I haven't noticed the serpentine belt make any noise yet though. Keep us posted.

got an 04 5.4 83,000 miles and have noticed a few times an unusually hard shift into second really hasn't done it lately but put an edge on it and with it on extreame with the hammer down the belt squeaks pretty good sometimes. I just turn the radio up. maybe i'll change it soon

Ya mine will chirp everytime with WOT with O/D off or O/d on, but try it with A/c on and it seems to shift fine. It seems like the motor is making more power then what the tranny is tuned for.

Well I heard from the dealer yesterday and after 2weeks of having my truck back and putting about 450 miles on it. the tranny has tore up the itermediate clutches again. This is after tranny rebuilt 1st time and on a whim an intermediate piston and clutches 2nd time. I'm hoping they get it fixed this time or have ford put in a new one. Its not like I am out trying to tear the thing up I drive my truck easier than I have ever drove any vechicle that I have ever owned Maybe thats the problem HMM
