..but I guess I'll look some more. Too bad, i really like this design.

Anyway, we'll see if we can solve this.

Any other ideas on what to do with the sensors?

Is there a way to fool the middle sensors (assuming that it'll solve the problem) and just use the outside sensors?

Any other ideas?

I can get a rear camera but I DO want the beep when i back up.

Thanks

Update

Well, we dropped the step a little which brought the center column down and now it doesn't seem to interfere with the sensors. The good news is that we only had to drop it ONE notch.

Sweet!

I probably still need to rig something up so that I can attach it NOT to the hitch but to the side so that I can free up the hitch.

I've got a scooter that I'm thinking of putting on one of them platforms in the back so that when I drop the truck off at service, I can ride my scooter home.

She's a pretty scooter and HER name is Piglet
With custom tag and everything..

I also got part of my seat covers installed and I'll report on that too.

I'm having problems with one part but I'll fix that..

Another update

I talked to the people that make them and apparently they have another version for the X called the 410 which has shorter column. I've asked what to do about replacing this one and I'm waiting for a reply.

I want to keep it regardless. Hell, I'll use it myself for getting in and out. I'm 300 LBS and have a crummy back so I can use it.

I've had one on my X for a few years now and they're great for dogs as well for putting stuff on the roof. I don't have the back up sensors though. My friend has an Escalade with back up sensors and he had the exact same problem.

Hope you come with a good working solution (for your dog's sake).

For a temporary relief of that annoying beeping you can always push the button next to the steering wheel that shuts it off.

Boys, here are some pictures of the twistep. You can twist it around in 4 different positions (two shown).

It also locks and as you can see, I had it in the highest position which shows where teh column was. Like I said, we dropped it ONE notch and it fixed it, AND, they are sending me a shorter column.

VERY nice product, see the pics

I see how the step works now. Thats a pretty good desgin. Im sure it also helps when your loading all of those boxs and stuff. Its better to have that step instead of trying to lift your foot on that bumper with the big box in your hand. Good thing you got the Ex, to haul stuff!

It's really a hell of a design and even if my dogs don't figure it out and I have to put something else, I'm gonna try to keep it just for myself, AND, I can use it to sit on if I ever need to sit down in the back.

Actually, all that **** you see in the back are the boxes for the seat covers and stuff like that. It's not supposed to be there but yes, I'm glad I got the X 'cause I'm always hauling a bunch of shi* I don't really NEED to be hauling.

The step IS a great idea and killer quality. That stuff's solid man!
Cast iron or steel or sumptin'

VERY WELL MADE.

Like I said, they're sending a short column so I'll keep you guys posted.

Later hybrids

Update

Alright boys,

I have some updates.

I had my Twistep moved to the right so I could free up my hitch.
I took it to a local truck shop and I think they did a good job.
http://www.************.com/excursio...oved-1-700.jpg
http://www.************.com/excursio...-close-700.jpg

Now I have two tow hitches. One for towing and one for other stuff.
I'm thinking of putting one of those carriers in the back and take my scooter with me when I leave it for service. That way I can drive the scooter home

Anyway, since now the unit is right in front of one of the rear sensors, it makes the sensor go ape **** so I'll fiddle with it and see what happens when I lower it more.

Here's the cool part. I talked to one of the guys from the company that makes it and he said that he can make me a CUSTOM center post to get it away from the sensor. Ie, a shorter one.

I don't need all the adjustments that it gives me as I'll only carry it in one position. He also has other platforms/steps that are bigger so I'll play with this one and I'll see which way I want to go.

Obviously, I like the design and I want to implement it or I wouldn't have spent the money to have it moved.

The Twistep IS a great product and very well made and the guy (Dan) has been very helpful so far which today is very unusual.

Kudos and I'll keep you guys updated.

How the heck did they do that? Looks pretty good. Are you planning on towing with the step up thing on? If you do you still cant, because if you turn right, the tounge of the trailer will hit it.

I tryed to call you back today, round 8:10. No answer. Is that your work numb?

There´s always something isn´t it?

I guess it comes off but this way I can add more crap to the back such as a bike carrier or something

They did a good job though
