Pricing difference between 350 & 450.

Let's say that I was going to order a 2008 F450. Does anyone have an idea as to what the price difference would be between a 2008 F-350 and a 2008 F-450? This is assuming that I am getting the exact same options in the 450 as I would with the 350. I'm trying to figure out if it is worth waiting for the 450 to come out or if the price difference is going to be too much for me and I might as well settle for a 350.

The only reason I see getting the 450 is because my wife and I plan to upgrade our toyhauler (go MUCH bigger) so with the 450 I wouldn't have to worry about what the total loaded weight is going to be.

Thanks in advance!
Dan

The F450 is already out and you can build and option on the Ford web site, you should check it out!!
Avgerage difference is in the neighborhood of 5k-6k....but for that 5k-6k you'll have larger brakes (14" vs 10"), heavier frame (Only on the 450) and larger tires/wheels (19.5) to name a few.
Also, the F450 is ONLY available in crew cab, long bed, Dually and only has 4:30 or 4:88 gears to choose from so, fuel economy will be a consideration.

That's, Strut61, some good info there. Fuel economy is a concern of mine. I pull a fairly light toyhauler (NRG23 ft.) which weight in under 10k lbs. and currently tow with my V-10, which doesn't like any type of grade and gets about 6MPG towing, which is killing me. As long as the diesel beats that, I'll be happy.

I did go to Fords website and it wouldn't let me build and price a 2008 F450, just an '07. Is this a recent change?

I had a V10 350 a while back and my towing MPG was lousy as in 8. I now have a 6.0 F350 and my towing MPG is 13 to 14 with the same load and same driving conditions. I am hoping my new 08 F350 6.4 will do as well.

SJPrice, what year was your V-10? Mine is an '03 and it knocks like a son of a beach with 87 octane. Drives me nuts!!

If thats all the weight you tow I'd def do the 4:30's on the F450.

OOPS, didnt notice that first part till after. Depends on how heavy that toyhauler ends up. lol

Another advantage of the F450 is with its wider front track it is able to turn sharper than the F250/F350.

Good one Origcharger, forgot that one!!! and it's a biggie too. That's actually one of the reasons I opt'd for the F450.
