I tried it last night, the Checker even had 2 filters on the shelves, but when I went to pay, the guy said no way (granted, he was the store manager and knew more than most). I asked why and he said that the coupon is for Extra Guard only and the oil filter for the 6L is not considered an Extra Guard Fram filter. So I reluctantly had to give them back. I'm going to try another few places tonight and I'm hoping to run into a newbie like last time that will ring it up for me without paying attention to the fine print.
funny thing is if you look at shucks online and input the info for a 6.0 it list filter as being an extra guard lol. kinda sounds like a screw up to me. The part number is correct CH9549Granted the price says $17.48. But it says its an extra guard. print out the parts listing and show him that.
I think I'd just be better off if I went to a different store to try my luck with not getting the store manager. But you're right, I was thinking that all of these basic Fram filters are Extra Guard filters, it's just that the CH9549 doesn't say Extra Guard anywhere on it. Has anybody else run into this problem or is everybody else having good luck getting $50 of filters for $7?
I (almost) feel guilty for paying so little for the filters! They only had the one in stock, so they ordered the other three from their warehouse. I pre-paid to insure of no last minute changes in their policy. I also bought two sets of mud-flaps with Ford blue oval emblems on them (it'll look GOOD) and two more cans of brake cleaner to clean my grimy EGR valve!
In one of the stores that I bought filters from, the clerk double checked with the store manager. I heard the store manager tell the clerk, "That corporate knew of the filter/price situation, and to go ahead and honor the coupon".
