coolant question

sorry if this has been discussed before, but I just changed my coolant filter and lost a little bit, the res is at the min level and i want to add to it. i was at my parts store getting other stuff and bought the zerex good stuff, 11 bucks a gallon and it says it meets all the requirements for all the diesel engines out there, they are listed on the back, navistar is one of them listed.
can i mix this with my factory coolant or do i need to go tot he dealer and buy the motorcraft kind?

Red face coolant filters

Hello Everyone, Does Any Know If There Are Other Filters We Can Buy For The Dielselsite Coolant Filter Systems, I Just Purchased The Coolant Filter System And Enough Filters To Get Through The First Three Cleanings And To Install The Fourth One. So I Only Bouht 4 Filter But I Find It Hard To Believe That We Can Only Buy From Them. Does Any Know What The Difference Is Between A Charged And Uncharged Filter Is??????????? Any Help !

4 filters will last you a long tiem, i got 4 with my system and you don't need to change it often, maybe in the beginning you should but eventually you can stretch out the intervals of changing. i just plan on buying like 3 or 4 at a time, once a year or so when I start running low. i am not aware of any place you can buy them in a store, and if you could, they'd probably be more money than dieselsite.

Napa has a cross reference Wix for the Baldwin filters supplied by dieselsite. They are about the same price, about 11 dollars.

You do not need a charged filter with the Ford Gold coolant. Charged filters have a high concentration of SCA (Supplemental Coolant Additive) which helps with corrosion and cavitiation found in a diesel engine.

this is the site, I just ordered mine today so I should have it in a couple of days, I ordered the ball valve set (they come with 2) and 4 filters and it came to a total of $188.62 or if you order just the system, it's $119.00 plus $9.u00 shipping and handling

it's well worth the investment, there are tons of threads about this coolant filter system and I know it works well because my first filter i just changed was pretty dirty inside, no slime though, like others have stated. and not much sand either, maybe it was caught in the filter itself. the ball valve is the way to go. either theirs or buy your own. it's kinda tight when you need to change the filter out, i want to get a strap wrench for the next time i change it. i used a huge pair of channel locks, and grabbed it and got it off. put plenty of rags underneath the filter so it's not dripping all over the truck down below.

Just makes me wonder what the dealer would say when you bring the truck in for warranty work. To me it seems they would think that it is helping keep the coolant system clean and is good maintenance practice on my part. But knowing dealers they are looking for anything to void your warranty.
Thanks for the info

Also, consider the Baldwin B5089 filter. Just a bit shorter and cheaper. After a couple of the Dieselsite filters, I found these as a cross reference from Baldwin and ordered a bunch. The reduced height makes it easier to R/R.

I Spoke With The Service Manager This Morning Due To An Issue I Had, But Thats Another Story However, I Did Ask About That And He Flat Out Told Me That He Wished Other Owners Would Do The Same, Like You Said They Can Tell Who Takes Pride In The Vehicles And Show How Well They Maintain There Vehicles. Plus The Company States It Will Not Void Warranty. But He Did Say For Those Of Us Who Use Programers And Chips For The Right Reason, Such As Towing Heavy Loads And What Not, He Simpley Said Remove It Or Hide It When Bringing It In For Warranty Work Cause Some Dealers Will Look For A Reason, But He Told Me He Can Tell From What Is On The Vehicle And What Has Been Upgraded Or Done To It As Well If The Person Is Using This Stuff For The Right Reasons Or Just For Power And Racing And Simple Abuse Of The Vehicle. Hell Everyone Likes To Have Alittle Fun Now And Then. For Me This Was A Big Investment And I Am Trying To Do Anything And Everthing To Make This Baby Run Smooth And As Long As Possible. I Just Got Mine Back In December,, I Believe The Sticker On It Said $46,000.00 But Of Course I Didn't Pay That, In Fact I Paid $32,622.50... Not Bad For A 2007 F-250 Lariat Fx4 Sb 6.0 Psd With 20" Tires And Damn Near Every Option Available On It Minus A Couple Of Things.....but I Have To Tell You Guys This Is My First Diesel And I Am In Love With My Truck.. Thank You All For Your Input, Information And Support... I Am Glad And Proud To Be A Part Of This Community. It Nice To Have Simple Things Like This Afte Doing 3 Tours In The Sand Box....
