ok i have done some research and i found out it is possible but do they make a kit or am i going to have to buy it in parts and put it together myself?
That would depend on the fabrication you are capable of.
You will first determine how much travel you are looking for, and the working angles of the links. It is more difficult than meets the eye. It is very possible though.
I have just recently installed a later model Super Duty coilover conversion on a 96 F-350. It came out clean, and required little modification to complete. Rides very well too.
I used an 8" full traction kit. I chose the kit because they allowed me to purchase my own shocks. See I was not crazy about the Fox shocks that they offered. I have other preferances. Anyway the full traction kit was built locally, and used johnny joints and big steel for the brackets. It really went on with minimal modifications.
As far as travel, well the links are rather short, so big articulation was not obtained, (although it did flex more than the leafs), but rode far better than the leaf spring configuration. I know we could have used a half ton rated spring like some do, but that was not the intention here. The customer wanted to still use the truck as a big truck, but wanted it to drive like a new coil sprung truck. We were pleased with the results. It is not a cheap modification, but it sure was fun.
The rest is easy, just have to scoop out some dough from that bucket of cash.
All it takes is time and money. With enough money, time can be negotiated.
Good luck with your mod.
