ok guys, I have a 98 f-150 and the damn thing has killed the front right brake rotor 2 times and my other 98 f-150 killed the same one as well. BTW it just went again and im pissed, I just replaced it 5k miles ago. Are there any non stock calipers that I can get for this truck. Its a 5.4L 4x4. I would LOVEEEE a Big brake kit but there pretty expensive so thats probably out of the question, unless someone knows of a cheap one or one for sale cheap new or used. I have slotted rotors with some nice pads already to help some but stock sucks . Also, the abs light jsut turned on, I assume its a sensor or something but would that have anythign to do with the caliper freezing up?
Im not warping rotors the caliper gets stuck, the only reason for better pads and rotors was to help with braking as best as I can without goign big brake kit. Im jsut wondering if there is a better caliper that can clamp harder that bolts up to stock stuff. If not im lookign for another caliper other then a ford caliper because these thigns keep getting stuck. Unless... is there some way... damn... maybe my front line is kinked and not letting the caliper retract?
Look into Willwood...they have a variety of options for all makes and models of vehicles. Theyre pretty reasonably priced if you want better performance and they may be able to set you up with something that works a bit better than stock. Should be able to call em and find out...thats your best bet so you can talk w/ a rep and figure out what works the best.

Yeah,
My buddy was gonna run them on his ranger...but he went with a long travel suspension kit that cost him a bit more than he anticipated lol. I've heard good things about them...they have big brake kits but they also have performance calipers for other applications all the way to motorcycles.

yooo i saw that one for the motorcycle thats flippin swettttt.
I have heard of the rubber brake lines going bad on vehicles before. Causes the fluid to flow out to the caliper but not back into the system resulting in a locked caliper. Try replacing these lines at the front calipers. Good luck!
Stainless steel brake company sells caliper upgrades that fit stock rotors.
that would be sweet if they had an upgraded stock caliper. However am i jsut missing it all i come up with is a big brake kit thats almost 2 grand. I have the slotted rotors and kevlar pads, so all i need is an upgraded caliper that bolts up to stock stuff. Do they have that?
Yes they sell upgraded calipers for stock size rotors. I have a styling concepts catalog with them listed. I'd check with Stainless Steel Brake Corporation online. I'd like a set for my F150. I have slotted rotors & Hawk pads but the stock calipers could be better. These upgrades are oversized cailbers for stock wheels or they have big brake kits too.
