hey everyone, i have a 1977 f-150 4x4 short box with a 9in skyjacker lift and 39.5 iroks everything is going good besides the front end hopes going down the highway at like 45 mph and up,, the tires have the sand stuff in them to balance them so im pretty sure thats not the problem, the company i got the lift from said i only need the 7 deg bushings in the front and i all ready had 4 in radius arm drop brackets, i think i need a bigger drop there, if anyone can help i would that would be great? and/ or what is the angle on the front axle suspost to be thanks again
If it was a caster problem, I would imagine you would have the bad shopping cart effect, and the steering wheel would be all over the place. With an up and down hop, that usualy indicates a balance problem, or poor dampers. (shocks) I opt to use zero balancing aids for tires that big. I have found that the sand gets thrown around a bit, and can cause erratic balance problems. I have tried several other options, but have just gone with nothing with pretty good results.
With that type of lift, you may also have a trac bar problem, and or steering geometry (not caster related). How much angle is on the trac bar, and is it tight? I mean really tight! Most guys fail to tighten them up properly, and have this problem.
everything is tight, the only thing i not real sure about is to lengthen my trac but the frame suported in the air and let the coils center everything??
