My PSD is an 04 350 Lariat CC. It has been in the shop for more than 40 (buisness) days for various problems. Transmission, Been rebuilt once and replaced once. Wiring harness issues with the 6.0 4 seperate times. I certainly could have lemon lawed it but it was not worth the hassle. I thought with the new trans that they put in it about a year and a half ago I would be all set. It still has issues when being worked hard ie. Plowing. It will not shift out of certain gears and it has had the dead pedal as well. This just happened recently. It has not snowed much this winter so I only have had a chance to plow a few times. Also when in reverse sometimes while backing up plowing or not, it will slip not move and there is a grinding noise somewhere in the drivetrain. All of a sudden it will engage and the truck will act normal. This problem I have had for about a year and a half now. It never did it before the new tranny. They told me that sometimes that can happen and since they can't reproduce the problem when they have it, it is probably just how the truck is supposed to be. I just brought it back again and they still couldn't find it but told me the latest flash should cure all of the trans issues. Last night while backing up it did it again. Just backing up in a driveway in 2wd. I wondered if anyone else has had this issue?
I also have a 04 and beat the crap out of it plowing and it has never done that! I would try another Ford dealer. My 99 V-10 had a ton of tranny problems, but not the torqueshift!! Good luck
Thanks, it feels to me like it could be in the transfer case, but they said that is probably not it. I just know that paying $47,000 for a truck, you shouldn't have any issues but we all know that is not the case.
Well I was driving home a few night nights ago when the truck stuck the 1-2 shift and the tow light was flashing, it then it went into limp mode. Dropped the truck at the local dealer only to be called back 4 hours later with clutch material in the pan, prognosis pull trans and inspect the inside. Found o/d clutches burnt and contaminated, 3 solenoids with debrit disassemble trans and clean and replace bad parts, flushed cooler and converter, installed remote filter and installed inline filter.. I have worked in the automotive community for over 20 years and have never cleaned a torque converter after some clutches have come apart and cleaned and reassembled I think the dealer took the path of least resistance instead of replacing the trans since I have low milage....

I would have demanded a new convertor. I have doubts they can flush all the contaminants out of the old one.
I didn't replace the TC when we overhauled granny's tranny about 3 months ago and haven't had any problems with it. Put a suncoast kit in it flushed everything, drained the TC with a brake system pump (all I had) to get as much of the old oil out as I could and let her bump. When you say if won't shift out of some gears are you putting it in say 3 and expecting it to shift 1-2-3? because a torque shift won't do that. when you put it in 3 it's locked in 3. Some of your symptoms sound like the solenoids have trash in them and can't make up their mind--that's what mine did--couldn't figure out if it wanted to go in gear or not and then operated fine.
