I have a 05 F-250 V-10, 60,000 miles. While in park I can't get the engine to rev higher than 3000 rpm. Is that normal?
It occasionally cuts out at highway speeds. Could it be the fuel pump? The mechcanic at the dealership seems to think its the fuel pump. I'm driving it till the tank gets near empty so they can remove the pump without wasting so much gas. I had the fuel filter replaced a few months back due to the same problem???
Please advise.. Jim
I'm not sure of the RPM cutoff but I DO know the PCM will not allow you to redline the engine in Park or Neutral.
What do you mean "cuts out at highway speeds"? Does it completely shut off or just give the sensation of power loss? ie stumbling, hesitation, bucking...
Monsta---It has power loss. It would only go around 45 mph. NoMo---It did fix the problem for a short time. The problem is intermittent. Thanks for the help. Jim
You wouldn't happen to have enemies that would shove some Tide washing powder down the gas tank, would ya? Did you take the fuel filter apart to see of there was anything in it that looked suspicious?
Don't want to go too far overboard, but you never know.
Also, did they check the pressure at the fuel rail to see if the fuel pump was delivering proper pressure? Sounds like the engine is starving for fuel.
