Another header question

What are the differences between shorty and long headers? Do shorty headers utilize the stock exhaust y-pipe, catalytic converter etc? What gives you better torques and horsepower? I'm looking for a way to increase HP, torque as well as a hell of a throaty sound all while conserving cash-flow.

shorty headers allow you to use your existing exhaust system from the header all the way back. Long or long tube headers require a custom exhaust system. The collectors for these types of headers end up under the car/truck but are supposed to flow better than shorty headers. Do some shopping to see what types of HP and Torque claims each company makes, if any. Have fun!
