The real question for those of us who are buying a $500 cover purely for hopes of increased mileage is how long will it take to realistically break even in gas savings? Unless we're constantly driving freeway all the time, I surmise it'll take quite a long time.
And that's what people need to realize, especially with the beasts we're driving. You may end up braking even IF it increases your milage, but it won't be anytime too soon. I went for looks alone. Any other benefit like increase in mpg is just a perk.

Yes the Truxedo is a great cover. Here is a Gas Saving Specs chart done by PaceEdwards. They report you save up to 11% savings. This applies to any flat tonneau cover. At least thats my understanding.
If you don't mind, where did you order yours from? I am trying to find the best price.
I ordered mine off ebay !! Got it for 250.00 shipped it will be here 2-morrow...The standard price on ebay is selling for 269.00 shipped ...You can also get them from jc whitney for 269.00 shipped,I ordered the truxport, the poles roll up with the cover and it is a seal not the snaps !!! Looks like a good cover...
The only thing that worries me about a (soft) cover is a simple box knife gets you in or, really f-ups the cover itself. I know a hard cover can be busted into also but...it takes a little more effort and I wonder if that could be enough to deter the bad guy.
i have found that the Leer fiberglass tonneau cover are good for keeping water out since the cover has a lip that seals over the edge of the truck.
Really if you want to better your MPG find someone that knows what they are doin or get a dealer to tweak your ROM. this if you have the right people do it can increase your MPG and increase your HP as well.
I have an ExTang BlackMax with the snaps all around. It looks great and picked it up of under $200. As for not getting it snapped in winter, you can change the position of the snaps. In the winter, you pull the snaps off and replace them so the actual snap portion is closer to tthe top. In the summer, you reverse it so it gets a bit tighter due to the heat making the material softer and more pliable and thus can more easily be stretched. I haven't seen a big difference in fuel mileage but it does protect the bed content and it looks sharp. Just my 2 cents....
I have had both a snap cover and an Access roll-up cover and the Access is a lot better IMO. The snap covers I would watch out for because they are cheaper for a reason. My cover got a tear over time and it was pretty much garbage after that. The access cover that I have now has a lifetime warranty. During the demonstration of the product, the guy walked across the cover and it's velcroed on the sides and it held him up. He also made a tear in the cover and tried ripping it afterwards and it didn't budge. Just be careful with some of the cheap covers.
I have a fiberglass on my 06 XLT. Only went that way for the color match and had the dealer include it on their dollar. I dont know about any better mileage with or without it but I like that it locks as compared to soft covers. I had soft covers before and on the highway I found they got loose and snapped in the wind sometimes. Dont miss that at all.
