Hey guys, I have a 04' 6.8L V10. I have had it for about 3 months I bought it off of EBAY. I Sold my Harley to get the EX. Well anyway heres my question. When my X is sitting in park and just Idling I feel a wierd little vibration kind of like a miss but not quite as hard as a miss. My friend says the V10's do have a small vidration. Is this true and I'm a paranoid freak or do I have a problem? I appreciate any help you all can give.
Does it do it all the time or does it kinda come and go?
BTW, V10s are one of the smoothest engines out there. Your friend seems a bit off base. Both of mine has been smooth as silk. You don't even know they're running ... well until I changed the exhaust.
If it is a slight miss every now and then there are a few things that can contribute to that. First we'll need more info.
Thanks for the reply Monsta, my X has 72,000 miles on it and as far as I know it has never had anything done to it. I does do it all the time, is the fuel filter something I can change myself? I had the tranny serviced and now it lurches forward when I start it cold. I'm in Iowa so it gets very cold. Yes my friend is abit of a Crack Head but the only guy I know with a V10. I try to use only straight gas without ethanol. I will start going to the same station.
I really appreciate the Help, I been on several types of forums. Harley, Yamaha and others. There are always good people on them to help a guy out.
Fuel filter is an easy change. Head down to the V10 forum for instructions and a picture of the tool you'll need. Although, I think there is a thread on the first page of this forum with the same thing right now.
The fact that your truck lurches forward when in Park is something that should cause concern. In Park the transmission is disconnected from the engine and the engine should NOT make the truck move at all.
