One thing to remmeber if you go to work for a small family owned business.......Family members will get the job you try to work into ,and when the owner retires.SO DO YOU
I love my job. I have no complaints at all. I hope to retire from this job. I repair & refinish cabinets for a large cabinet company. I pickup my work orders in the morning & I'm by myself the rest of the day. If I get finished with my work orders by noon I'm off with full pay. Its easy work with the only drawback being the occasional hard to please customer. I can live with a few of them.

My boss has 3 sons. Not one of them wants to work in this field. They hate the work. 2 of his kids and his wifes nephew have worked for us on occasion and he treats them like employees just starting in the bussiness. He will not give any slack to them because they are family. I have seen it first hand. His reasoning is. It's my company and it's reputation on the line.
I hate mine.. to much political bs and the boss thinks we have to get his and the office's lunch everyday. Not to mention doing his personal errands. If it wasn't for that I might be able to handle it.
I lost my job in town, so I hate not having one. Does that count?
For what it's worth, when the place was open and I was working there, I really did'nt hate my job. I worked nights, since it fit my schedule better (and I got to avoid the idiot managers, for the most part). What I did was easy enough, paid fairly well for this area, and I had decent co-workers.
What I did'nt like was the above-mentioned idiot managers, who seemed to not care so much about the business as much as keeping their own rear ends covered and assigning blame. In my opinion, they went a long ways towards corporate HQ deciding to close the place. Most of them were willing to drink the Kool-Aid that corporate mixed up and went along willingly with some of the stupidest ideas I've ever seen.
I've been turning wrenches for 30 years and still enjoy what I do.I started out in gas stations and today I work for a large family owned moving company. Although the primary buisness is household goods moving and storage the company has several other divisions. An exact count is hard but we service about 200 units plus outside customers.I enjoy the challenge of all the different vehicles plus being a go to person.Internal politics and my big mouth are not a good combination so I avoid the main offices like the plague.Generally speaking if I'm in the office I'm in trouble. They pay me well for this area, the insurance is good , it's 8/10's of a mile from home and with rare exceptions all the hours I want.
The perfect job for me would be a consultant,People would call me on the phone and ask my opinion on something, I would give it and they would be billed by way of their visa/mastercard.........lets say 50 bucks for 10 minutes.........beat that for a perfect job
