Anyone have any experience or preference on a particular brand of lift for a '96 Powerstroke? Best designs, quality, materials, installation? I'm looking for a 6 inch lift. Some of the brands I've come across for these trucks are Tuff Country, Rancho, Superlift, Skyjacker, and Ruff Country. I've never done a lift before so any info would be appreciated.
Skyjacker, Superlift, and Rancho are the major ones that I would look at. Superlift and Skyjacker are going to be cheaper than the rancho, but are still a good quality suspension lift. I think the rancho would have the better ride after though. I am running a pro-comp lift in my F150, and though the brackets were built fairly strong, I noticed that the quality control as for holes lining up with existing holes and even holes in corresponding aftermarket brackets didnt line up nicely.
Thanks for the info so far guys! I just posted in the offroad forum so I'll see what kind of hits I can get there. BTW, has anybod used the SuperRunner steering system from Superlift? I was wondering if it makes much difference over just using a dropped pitman arm.
I would think that it would, and I am looking at that for my truck too. For the most part it looks like a marked improvement over the stock set up. The only thing that I was wondering about it the rigidity of the bushing on that idler arm. It looks like a poly bushing and I am not sure how long that would last in there. Other than that it looks like a great product.
im sorry they dont offer one for your year model thats my bad i didnt pay attention to wht year u have.. but if u can afford the skyjacker lift it would be a wize choice especially if you still gone work the truck and go offroading skyjacker is the only one from where i am from thats seems to actually last and hold up to abuse..
What it ultimately boils down to are the shocks and leafs. The axle pivot drop brackets, blocks and pitman arm are the same, just a different design, yet it will not have any impact on performance.
I too say skyjacker. With Nitro shocks.
