I have a chance to buy a 1996 bronco XLT for $2500 CDN (1590 us) that seems to be in great shape. the low book value for it is $3500 it's starting to rust above the wheel wells and only slightly on the tailgate. all the options work, the 302 runs great
he says it leaks 1/2 quart of trans. fluid a month..
has 150,000 miles
is there anyhting I should look for that these trucks are prone to? he says it's really reliable and has only been in the shop once for a fuel relay.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Sep-02 AT 00:18 AM (EST)]Fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, oil leak from rear main, oil pan rust, hubs (if auto). those are the big ones nearly the same ones as the 81. hope this helps
If you do buy it. It shouldn't be too expensive to fix if it does only have those minor problems. A tranny rebuild down ehre is about $700 and then you should be able to order a new tailgate shell since all the guts in the original should work. Then if it's only started to rust, if you can't sand it off, just order some patch panels from Jcwhitney. I think they're about $25 each.
Of course this is all US money. Heh
