Even though you're correct........maybe not so good of an example.

Afterall, we had BMW powered Ford owned Land Rovers just recently...

I always get a chuckle over the old ads after Chrysler bough Sunbeam.
Touting the high performance V8 Tiger but never mentioning it was Ford powered!!!

The last laugh was when those Chrysler mechanics took a gander at that V8 in the Sunbeam. The engine extended into the firewall...so.....it had to be pulled in order to remove the valve covers!

A friend bought a 1951 Lincoln years ago, first he discovered that Lincoln used the Flathead V8 337ci truck engine, then he was amazed to discover it had Hydramatic!

I think the cummings is what Ford ate, chewed, and threw up a while back. And that was just doing the research for Ford's comparative analysis.

There's one thing about it though- If ford built the superduty w/ the cummins B-series you would have the ultimate light duty truck. The deisel was perfected in the I6 design not the V. I like the cornbinders V-8 but it'll never sound like that I6. Want torque, put the cylinders in a line, want hp and less vibration put 'em in a V. That's JMO though, and we all know about opinions.

What is Ford's relationship if any with Sterling. I see Ford bodied truck with the Sterling emblem, or am I seeing things.

There is no G in Cummins.

"comparative research" , comparing to what, the highly reliable 6.0?

Ford sold off all their heavy truck business to Sterling around 5-10 years ago (I'm not exactly sure on the yrs). Everything went, the C (Cabover), LN (long haul), and F600 and larger trucks.

This was about the same time Ford bought Jaguar, Aston-Martin, Volvo and Land Rover.

No Sir, Volvo Truck was not part of the purchase of Volvo Car. Volvo Truck owns Mack and Renault Truck...but not Renault itself...thankfully.

and when Renault bought the controlling share of mack, quality started going downhill. now that Volvo has bought Renault, Mack's are in the dumpster. the trucks are built so cheaply now, they spend more time in the shop than they do on the road. nothing but problems with them, and the construction company's that once were Mack's biggest buyer for combination on/off road trucks are leaving them in the dust for other brands, like Western Star, Peterbuilt, and Kenworth, with Cat power.
