ok...when i got the truck not to long ago, it got 18 mpg, that was stock. Then i added the AEM brute force and a tonneau cover and i got almost 22 mpg on the same trip. I then added my Magnaflow duals, and on the same trip, i only got 17.5 mpg. Thats 4.5 mpg drop! Well then i got my Xcal1 and set it up for 89 performance and i just got home last night, same trip, and got 17.7 still. I thought maybe it was because maybe the gas stations were getting winter blend fuels, but still....a 4.5 mpg drop? Do you think its because of the exhaust or just the fuel?
I would try another setting on your Xcal1, mess with it until you get some mpg's back. Did you get it from Troyer Performance? You might wanna give them a call and maybe get a custom tune on your Xcal1.
As for the huge drop when you put on the Magnaflows.....I am a total loss there. I should have a least stayed the same.
18 mpg's is still pretty decent for a 5.4l. I was pretty amazed when you said you were getting 22, you must have been driving down hill with the wind for quite a while.
blue grass is right, i dont care what you have done... 22 is almost unheard of... with the truck in my sig i saw 20 for awile with the wind behind me going 55 on a flat 2 lane highway.... you aint gunna see any better conditions than that... and that was vaired... i average about 17-18 in the summers13-15 in the winters
im not kidding...stock i got 18, and tonneau and intake i got 22....i swear. my dad has a 2002 f-150 supercrew and he gets 23 with intake, exhaust, cap, and tuner on 89 performance....he was only getting 20 without the tuner
i think i might have messed up on the info i gave for the tuner...not sure but hes helping me alot.....but im at a loss as well with the exhaust....dont know about it
i swear to you guys....on our trip coming home from upstate, set the cruise at 65 and he gets 22-23.....hes got the 5.4 and 3.55 gearing. hes also got amsoil in the engine, diffs, and tranny
