When I had a V-6 F-Body, I heard that lower temp thermostats could help improve engine performance. I just installed the AutoZone low temp thermostat and temp guage does not like to go above bottom bracket of acceptable range.
I am in South Texas (Way South Texas) and it gets real hot here. I figure better cooling would be a good thing in keeping coolant flowing well.
Colder thermostats make the computer think that the engine is cold which then causes the engine to run in a rich mode which will reduce your mpg's. Your decrease can be as much as 3-4 mpg. Hope this helps and Good Luck,
Rick
