I have a 77 F150 and plan on doing a full restoration with some up grades. I want to install power windows and door locks with full remote entry. Up grade the sound system, and make the front clip tilt. I had already planned on a new harness, but should I use a heavier gauge harness or just heavier wires for the custom items. Thanks AL
If you can find a new stock harness, you will have to add a lot of extra wiring for the accessories you want to add. You may want to look at an aftermarket harness like ron francis or painless. They may have the wiring already there for the power accessories.
If you are planning on making your own harness, I would just copy the wiring for the stock items, and plan the wiring size for each component you are going to add. So you will need the power requirements of the new components like the windows, amplifiers in the sound system, etc, so you can run the correct size wire.
Sounds reasonaable. I figured I would probably need to go with a bigger fuse panel for the other accessories that I add on. And I'm thinking a bigger altenator. is that painless a harness that one of the FTE site sponsors carry? Thanks for the Help AL
