I'm looking for a module that has a brown connector as I was told different connector color modules don't work as good for my application.
What years Did Ford have a module with brown connector? This is for a flamethrower project.

The Ignition Module with the Brown wiring grommet is for the Duraspark III System. They were used in the late 70's and early 80's (at least through 1983).
I found that a 1977 country squire with a 460 could have had a red grommet module if it was made for California. Otherwise it had a blue.
I found a 1979 E100 econoline van with a 300 could have had a yellow or a blue module. I think yellow was for California.
I haven't found a brown one yet. It's all for emissions stuff, and I think I read somewhere that some of them had extra wires for different features. They are just playing with the timing. Do you know why they recommend a brown module?
I have heard some guys with superchargers have played around with the white wire that comes on every standard blue module. It retards the timing to make the engine crank easier during starting, but you can also use it as a crude timing retard device when you are under boost.
I'm going off what 1short on the forum stated that a brown module produced better results (?). I'll go to Pick-N-Pull when the rain stops, thanks for the help.

thelonerangerxlt, what you posted is exactly what I was looking for as i've only fooled around with points and after market like Crane's XR 3000 ignition systems. I should be able to locate a Calif module which has a hotter output your article stated as i'm in Calif. Thanks again, a Pick-N-Pull hunting I go.

have fun finding a brown unit there is none out there. plenty of blue and green. i just tossed a brand new brown module last week. too bad i just saw this.
Poo! By what I have read any unit for Calif is hotter. I want to use it for a flamethrower controlled by a 555 time delay. Them varmits cost much? Oops, Kragen for $45.99.
Hows that build coming, you get any extra dents in the head from the War Department because of unforeseen engine cost over runs?

Green it is that i'll be looking for in my favorite Pick-N-Pull as i'm always looking for other items. Should I fail i'll go to Kragen's, thanks boss.
I just POed the War Department as I purchased 8 five gallon stainless pepsi syurp containers on ebay at $11 each, perfect for homebrew. I hate filling small bottles.
