at times my tach dont work or it will twitch around. then it will be fine for a while. where does it get its sgnal? what should I look for? I'm still learning what everything is under the hood.
The tach gets it signal from the injection pump drive gear. It is an analog signal. You can also check buy taking your sensor out get somebody to take a chishel or a screwdriver and swipping it across the sensor tip pretty fast. Get somebody to watch the tach while you wiggle the wiring around. You need to have the key on. If you are alone use a mirror and wiggle everything around while you swipe a iece of metal across the sensor..
well now i know what that big nut with the cut wires is. and why my tach dont work. first diesel had it a week, drove home fine, hasnt run in a week,but im learnin and i got it to run for 30- 40 sec today..woot!!
