dual alternator

I have a 96 bronco with the 351 in it. I can't seem to find any place that sells a bracket to install a second alternator. I am going to run two systems in my truck one for the stock system (lights, dash, starting and such) and the other system is going to run to the back batterries to run the stereo and all the accessories. But I can't seem to find anything at all about getting a bracket for the second alternator.

All caps edited out by administration
Please refrain from using all caps.

Can't you just run a 100 amp alternatorfor the whole system?

I've never heard of bracketry for this on a 351 EFI. You'll have to fab something I'm sure.

What's wrong with using a 100 alternator & a battery isolator instead?

Otherwise, you should be looking under the hood of smahed up ambulance's. They had dual alt's.

dual alternator

huh? I didn't use all caps?
I have a 200 amp alternator from Mr alternator. But it isn't enough. My sub amp is 140 amps, my mids and highs amp draws 60 amps. Then there is the draw of the truck running, headlights, and any of the spotlights. Plus it is all done up with a 5.1 DVD system so there is a million and a half little modules.
That's why I want two alternators. One to drive the truck, like from the factory and then the second hi output alternator is for the stereo and added lights.
How do I go about knowing what to look for in an ambulance. As in what year or model or however they do ambulances.

Mudbug used all caps not you.

For your custom dual alternator setup check here.

dual alternator

One thought is to get a high amp alternater with a second output for a second battery, so you could run 2 batteries. One battery for the stock assesories, and the second battery for all the rest of the add-on stuff like stereo and other goodies. The dual output alternater will charge both batteries. I think Powermaster may have a dual output alternator. This is an area that I will be looking into myself when I start adding alot more of those same goodies like electric winch, lights, and better stereo.

Hey mil1ion, I tried the web sight that you posted on 'Dual Alter-nators' I keep getting "The page cannot be displayed"

Hope this helps

You also might want to add a farad capacitor to help handle the loads placed on your charging system mainly the amps.
