Cab Design Changes
We would like to make a pickup out of it. Is the cab the same from late 39 to 47? I notice the cowl has indentations for a hood and fenders that are not used for the 47 hood and fenders on the truck. Does that mean it is the same cab design since they changed from 3 stripes on the door to two stripes on the door (1939?). If it is the same cab we will look for a 40 or 41 nose and build it to look like a stock 1940 1/2 ton PU.
I am not familiar with Ford 6 cyl. Is it an OHV like chevy's 216 or is this a much newer engine? the motor mount seems to fit the chassis. the front mount looks like two ears under the radiator.
The pictures I have seen of fords sixes have the carb on the pass. side. This has the carb on the drivers side.
thanks for any help to a Ford novice.
Jim
First, if the 6 is an overhead valve, it's not '47, in fact, it's a '52 or later motor. Prior to '52 Ford used a flathead 6 cylinder.
The cabs are virtually identical from '40-'47, the '39 and earlier was a different cab in that there were 3 three ribs on the doors and the cabs have a seam above the windshield instead of on the back of the cab.
Put some pictures in a gallery if you can, I, and I'm sure a few others, would love to seem some pictures of your project.
On the left sidebar in a pict of his Original 216 inliner. The carb is definately in the drivers side of the early overhead Chevy truck I6.
Sorry guys for the Chevy link :-( Hope I don't get kicked out the the group for this.
