Hi,
This is my first post so please forgive any errors. My question is I have an '84 Ford xlt with a 351w with a 4 bbl Edlebrock, my voltmeter, verified with a vom, will read 13.8 with the engine running and lights and heater fan off, when I turn on just the lights it drops to 13, with just the heater fan on it drops to 12.5, with both on it drops to 12 or 12.5. I have the understanding that it should always read between 13 and 14 with the engine running. Is this a indication that something is in the process of going out? or is this normal, If so can anyone help me with what could be going bad. The alternator is only about 6 months old, the regulator looks like original equipment, the battery is 3 1/2 years old.
Thank you
Hi, Thank you Million for such a quick response, at approx. 1000 to 1200 rpm, with nothing on I read 13.8, turn on headlights 13.7, turn on wipers 13.1, then turn on heater fan on high 12.2, this is with leaving all items on. it seems that the heater fan is drawing more voltage than it should, is this correct?
Thank you again
