Also where are some of the areas on the truck that are more prone to rust, I guess what I am trying to ask is where are the more common areas for rust that I should check.
I would contact rhino-liner/line-x and some of these companies for removal info..The 56 is known to rust-1.bottom of doors-2.drip edge of roof-3.cab corners-4hood front edge--5.floor-especially near driver side feet would go.-6.rockers -inside of door jams.--if it is near salt-water area--look around roof line. 7--tailgate corners and anywhere else a weld or seam may be.---Also take a magnet-and ask alot of questions when buying.--LOOKS NICE IN PICS. GOOD LUCK--Bill
I prefer the painted beds myself. Problem is, the bed has to be really straight to look good. I used Dupli Color bedliner on my bed for that specific reason. I couldn't get my bed wall straight for anything. It's not as coarse as the Line X or rhino liner which looks thick and has a texture like rubber. I was told by LineX, that once they spray it on, that's it, it won't come off. So I would think you would have to sand it off or scrap it off. The other problem is the bed is only 18GA steel, meaning it's pretty thin. When you grind or sand you have to be real careful. If it's in good shape I'd leave it. If your set on paint, it might be easier to buy a new bed, or cover the bedliner with new panels. One good point is you can load stuff in your bed and not worry about scratching the paint.
I am sure there is a chemical method of removal.Body shops deal with this ,and maybe this is what I would do.People wreck trucks everyday and some are lined.
Project1056: I just received my Bedsides and Front panel, etc from MAR-K in ok city, ok. I am pleased with their quality ;packing was excellent. Cost for sides 250 ea....which is typical. Problem is that they require Truck freight which is costly. I wanted painted straight sides and I knew I couldn't make my originals perfect so I bought new ones. .....now I don't know what I'm gonna do with the old ones! Check door hinge pockets for rust.....that's where the door hinge is attached to the door opening. goodluck.

Well that is perfect, I live in Okc, OK. Does he have a website or catalog?
Is there anybody that makes a tonneau cover for these truck, if so who does and how much? I apologize I am new to the effies.
It depends on what kind of tonneau. Lots of guys have the black vinyl with snap ons which is relatively cheap and an upholsterer can make one. Fiberglass lids run about 7-800 bucks.
www.midfifty.com has the velcro covers $159.00for black and $169.00 for colors, they also have a rigid fiberglass for $800.00 and I do believe prospick has aone made of metal. Hope this helps.
