Well I went down to the township building, and was talkin to one of the locals. I didnt tell him about my ticket i just asked him politly to come out and see if he thinks my exhaust is to loud. So he did and i fired it up, walked around to the other side were he was standin, he said no, sounds pretty stock to me. I told him i put a aftermarket muffler on it, and he said yea i heard a little bit of a growl when you fired it up. So i then got more in depth. I said so you dont think its to loud he said heck no. So i asked if he would perhaps write it down that i had him check the sound level on my truck. He said well i can write you out a paper but it will not be offical so i said thats fine. So he did so then i showed him my ticket. He had a puzzled look on his face and said ****** wrote you this ticket. I said yea why. He pointed over to this dodge 2500 with a hemi in it with dual pipes and said thats his truck, and its way louder than this........ I started to get mad again but i remained calm... So now i will have a court hearing in march. So i wonder if it was a mistake and maybe he heard somethin else or what. Idk but i will not lose this case....
If it is anything like a lot of 300's I have heard with a single muffler it would be too loud, mine included. I added a second muffler. Remember many of todays mufflers are designed to work behind a catalytic converter and do not reduce sound levels enuf to be used by themselves. Converting to duals makes the sound louder and more harsh with any engine.

Wow,hope it works out in your favor. It should!!
My truck is loud as H*** never had a problem,,,,yet LOL
I have true duals, high flow cats and flomaster 40s.It rattles the windows in my house when I start it.
Good luck.
funny how things are so different here in canada...or saskatchewan anyway. i had an '81 c@@@y with a 350, straight pipes at 2 1/2 inches. had a pile of fun with it, boy was it loud!!!! and the cops never so much as blinked at me!! and the thing was so guttless that it only moved when floored. sorry tp hear about your trouble...hope you get it wiped away...
I'm with Mil1ion--"too loud" is not valid without a sound pressure level measurement, i.e., 100dB@10 yards (that would be loud for a house at typical distance from the street).
HOGWASH! take him to court, no doubt the state has an establshed decibel limit on exhaust, and unless you have no exhaust, his ear is not capable of determining what the db level is!

hahahha.. didn't you see this coming?!? oh so typical that you can get ticketed by mr. police for basically illegal exhaust, yet his larger motored truck can get away with it. f that... fight it hard, but be courteous, and try and see if you can get the judge (or whomever you'll see) to check it out. i doubt it'll happen, but imagine if the chopper drove his truck down...
I dont even have dual exhaust, its stock except for the dynomax muffler!! Dont get me wrong i like the loud sound of the v-8s with dual exhaust, and this spring i will have a 351W with duals in my truck. But the fact still remains MY TRUCK AINT LOUD!!!! As a matter of fact, when i put my dynomax muffler on it i fired it up without a muffler and it wasnt really that loud. Idk boys, i am deff. gonna stick this one out tho.
Get yourself down immediately to a reputable mechanic and get a DATED and signed inspection stating what you have under there, so the cop can't claim you had it changed.
Talk about loud pipes!
A town in Ky.,,, All the Firefighters have STRAIGHT PIPES on their trucks and they are so LOUD, you can not hear the sirens!!!!
I was delivering there and pulled out from a traffic light when they came flying over the rise, Lights going but all you can hear is those loud pipes, A cop threatened me with a ticket, I told him be ready for the FEDERAL MARSHALS since I cross state lines that I'd have the ticket FEDERALLY removed from existance! He left me alone.
