Tailgate Window

I put in a new tailgate, a new window, and weatherstriping. The problem I have is the window goes down really slow, but comes up at normal speed. I know it might be a weak motor but I thought it would make the window go up slower. Have any of you had this problem? Thanks a bunch and take care.

I just got a new window for my 79 bronco too, I don't have an answer for your question but I was just wondering where you got the weather stripping?

The LMC truck catalog has the rubber weatherstip for 78-79 broncos available, as well as a few other contacts. You just have to know where to look.
Good luck

while it may sound backwords, a weak motor might just be the problem. the window is actually on a pretty good spring and when you raise the window the motor gets much help from the spring, however when lowering it, the motor is fighting the spring, so it may just be that you have a weak motor.

new motors run around $75

i would wait to see if anyone else has something to say on the subject before you go buy one though.

I just did the same thing to my '92. With the same results. At this point I am willing to chalt it up to the fact that all the weatherstripping is new and "tight". i am just going to wait a while and see if time "loosens" the weatherstrip and the window runs like it used to. Doesn't ever completely stall so I figure I'm not really hurting anything. I took the time to clean the motor armature (brushes and bearings internal to the motor itself) before reinstalling it so, I know the motor is clean and in good running order in mine.
