accufab elbow

Just recieved my accufab intake elbow, before I install it I just wanted to ask, has anyone that has had one installed had any warranty problems or threats. My dealer is usually very picky so it prbably depends on them.

I was upfront and went and talked to my sales manager as I plan on getting one. He had a look and has no problems with it and told me to go ahead. Now if it was a programer or the like forget it as Ford is a little sensitive with claims on the 6.0. Try and be upfront about it and see what they say..

Why risk it and do the work for 9 HP and 9 lbs of torque? Would you even be able to tell the difference?

You bet there is a difference!! The acceleration and smoothness of the engine when driving is much better. If you use a tuner or module there s even better results. Normal driving with RPMs around 2000, the truck feels smoother when accelerating. If you are on the pedal heavy over 2500 RPMs you can really feel the truck wanting to pull hard.

my guess is if it made 9hp and 15ftlb on the dyno it has opened to air intake enough to see better acceleration, smoother running and maybe even (this is a big one for us) better GM. :-) well worth the 160$....

i'm opting for the elbow from puredieselpower seems to be a smoother pipe, since it's not cast. and i like their location for the port. comes with a plug installed, and it's cheaper than the accufab one. 150 bucks.
maybe not as shiney but not like you drive around with the hood open.

i would be very leery of talking to a "sales manager" . that is a totally different position than if it was the "service advisor/manager" as they are the people who really decide

I spoke with the service manager of the dealership where I puchased my truck, back in august of 06, but I have yet to deal with them since because I have had zero problems with it so far, (knocking on wood), i was asking him about the new injector flash, and while I had him on the phone, I asked him about installing the new elbow for the intake and he said that ford spends millions of dollars in research for these trucks and engines and that whatever is on there from the factory is going to be the most efficient and that he would recommend that I don't install any aftermarket elbow to the intake. He said that there are too many companies out there trying to make money off guys by saying it'll help their truck but that most people wouldn't notice a difference anyways. I'm not saying I believe him, just stating what came from his mouth. I think it's a pretty stand up company, and a good reputation, but I'll find out eventually how good they are with slight mods on the truck. I have yet to do anything performancewise to this truck.
just letting you guys know, that mabye it wouldb e wise to put the stock elbow back on if you know you are taking it in for service. unless your dealer service manager has approved you putting it on there.
I want to buy the elbow, but I will swap the OEM one back in when I do take it in.

I picked mine up from Accufab since I work about a mile from there. I got the plain version since I don't like shiny mechanical stuff too much.

Dapgar, thanks for sharing the conversation. It's just ironic the guy would talk about millions spent engineering these trucks and we're still getting recall flash notices, harnesses had to be replaced, the throttle body was eliminated, etc.

Some mod stuff, some don't! Guess that's why there's Almond Joy and Mounds candy bars.

i just don't see how this elbow could cause any warranty related problems with these trucks.
