Hey everyone i just picked up a very nice 94 ford f250, standard cab, 5 speed, with 120,000 mile son a big block 460, It has 2.5 inch flow master, and 6 inch lift and 35's,
I was curious how much mpg i would get? In town and on freeway,,, Feel free to post up how many mpg you get in your 460 truck..
Running around town, I'm getting 10-12 these days. Absolute best that the truck has gotten since 96 or so (when it came into the family's hands) was 14 on the highway empty. Worst...well, we won't talk about worst That was when she was pulling a 32' goosneck trailer loaded with a few hundred bales of hay. Did that for close to 10 years before she 'retired' to life as my current daily driver.
270k miles on her since she left the factory in 1990. She's a running old beast.
Even with EFI I wouldn't expect to get much better than 10-11 mpg especially with a lift and larger tires. The best I ever got in my 460 is 14 mpg (under perfect conditions). I usually get around 9-10 towing and 11-12 empty. They are great trucks. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Well... except when you pull up to the pump..
Awesome stories guys, i appreciate it, Gas milage sucks though, I guess i have dual tanks, I cant find any factory spec on the truck on the internet...
Does anyone know how much hp, and tq theses have>?
95 standard cab 460 auto, avg 8.5 mpg's.
From what I've read here I believe the ratings are,
HP-245
TQ-400
It's changed with the years but It's around there.
The MPG's vary a lot from motor to motor it seems. If you manage to get 12 you should consider yourself very lucky. I just remind myself that I didn't get this truck for mileage every time I stop at the pumps.
If you haven't, do some searches. This site is full of great threads, info and lots of help. If you type in mileage or mpg for a key word and pick this specific forum, you'll have lots to read.
Congrats on the purchase, sounds like a cool truck.
I am new to this forum but have been lurking for a while. 1st post. This thread particularly caught my eye because I just picked up a 1994 F250 4X4 7.5l. Mint condition with only 55,400 miles on it. Fully loaded all the way around. 1 previous owner. Old couple recently retiring and was looking for a more practical vehicle to move to Arizona with.
The gas mileage seems a little discouraging, but obviously I didn't buy this truck for that reason. I haven't checked out the mileage on my truck yet because I am still on the first tank of gas. (Show's how long I've had it - 6 days). I am very good at working on cars and such, so I'm sure I might be able to squeeze a little more out of it. I had a 1980 F250 4x4 with a 351m that I got rid of a couple of years ago. I was able to get that one up a couple of mpg's. We'll see on this one. If I can average 12-13 I will be happy.
Either way, this was the perfect deal. Great truck, very low mileage, powerful engine, and a very low price tag. Either way, I like it. Plus it runs really well and is very comfortable. Especially with the Captain chairs that were put in place of the bench seat. Glad to have found this site. It's excellent. Later... Mike....
Good to hear you enjoy your new truck mike, Here is a picture on my new f-250,
i love the color, Fire Orange.. The tires look small but there 35's, with 15x10 rims,With the chrome front bumper guard, I will have to take some more detailed pictures later, when the weather isnt raining/snowing..lol
My father has a 95 crew cab F-350 4x4 460/5spd, he gets about 10/13mpg empty. When he pulls his 30' gooseneck camper he gets about 9/12mpg. I told him he was pretty lucky. He's put about 120,000 on it and it's stong as ever. 85% of those miles are probably with the camper all over the U.S.
Great looking truck, the reg cabs always look cool all jacked up. Enjoy!!
