I have a 91 with a 5.8 and it seems to leak a little oil from the rear main seal. wondered what a job it was to have replaced, approx cost or time in hours to fix this? does anyone know of an additive that may work. the bronco only has 100k on it and just started leaking last week.
thanks
I had the same problem on my 90 ford f150. Before you replace the rear main seal make sure your leak is not coming from the back of a valve cover. I thought my leak was the rear main and it ended up being a valve cover gasket. I went ahead and replaced both and it solved the problem.

Same problem on my 89 with the 5.8. I has the rear main replaced when I had the trans repaired. The shop that did the work quoted me $400.00 if I did just the rear main.
I had an oil leak and it was my oil pan gasket. The job takes 2-3 hours and you need th eengine lifted out so a engine lift is a must!! One shop wanted $250. My mechanic only charged me $75.00!!!!!!! :P
