Tailgate Window 'contact'

My 88's tailgate window seems to have a contact issue. Unless I push really hard on the top left side of the tailgate, the switch doesn't seem to make contact (and the windows doesn't go up or down). Does anyone know exactly how this switch works. I tried adjusting the Torx bolt to bring the t/g in a little. Made it worse!

Tailgate Window 'contact'

Not sure what changes occured between 88 and 92 but if the latches didn't change, the lever that actuates the switch inside the latch on the driver's side is just above and behind the upper cam of the latching mechanism. I only know this because yours truly decided to stop using what little brains he has and slam the tailgate (after working on the window motor) without releasing the driver's side latch. Messed up the latch quite well but gave me the opportunity to examine the latch and switch assy. in great detail in an effoert to fix the damage.
