I was wondering why did ford stop making the ford bronco?I think its a great truck.I was wondering if you think ford will ever make the full size bronco again like VW made the VW bug again years after they stoped.
Doupt it cause the expy is what most people are looking for.
This has been dicussed alot and if you search you will find alot of info and even there concept for a new bronco.
I wish they'd make a new one, I saw the concept, but it looked kinda small. I didnt care for it much. i think most people like the extra doors of an expedition or excursion for more room. probably not a huge market for a REAL truck type suv. I saw a photochop of a new f150 that was made up like a bronco and man it was sharp!!!! unfortunately, ford and gm are going to try and please soccer moms instead of off- roaders
I for one wish they'd make the concept just like it is. I'd stand i line to put my name on the list for one. If they did make a new one like the concept it would put a hurtin on jeep sales for a little while. I think they will make another one in the near future and i think they'll offer a diesel in it if they do(OHHHHH SO SWEEEEEEEET) But if they do it'll end up being like the GT and the Thunderbird- special edition only made for a year to three and then they'll kill it again.
Oh I almost forgot- the beetle was made in mexico all the way up until '03 or '04, so you can go get a brand new retro beetle from mehico if you can get it across the border
The problem with that concept was its computer controlled 4wheel drive and the mush box they were throwing around.
If they did it right with solid axles manuel t-case and options on auto or hand shacker and gas or a small diesil. then offer it for under 20 grand. then ya they would hurt jeep were it counts, and I would love it.
I do not forsee this icon making a return with the ruggedness, durability, and convenience that we have seen in the past, especially the FSB's. They should bring back the Excursion and shorten it to just a 2 door model. With the V-10 or PSD, solid axles, manual hubs, and lever x-case, you got a beast ready for some offroad action. The best thing to hope for is that more people will save these rigs from entering the junkyards and seeing the crusher. They all have so much potential and go place most newer vehicles would not dare to try. I love having the full size capacity that is compact at the same time, especially in parking situations. I can't forget that it has one of the best turning radii of all times. Very few 4x4s can match or beat that. I still see a bunch of them on the road, but with each passing year we have to face the facts that there are less and less of them around. That is sad.
The concept Bronco was introduced about 3 or 4 years ago. It is based on the Ecsape chassis - I think - if you search on FTE, you may find the old thread and more info and photos.
The Bronco line ended in 96 (I am glad I have a 96) and the expy took it's place as we all know.
The trend was more size and more doors, plus the chassis and suspension out teched the older TTB type suspension/chassis.
I have always wanted a FSB, especially after seeing photos of Ted Nugent's Camo/Zebra striped Bronco.
The concept Bronco would be fun to have, even if it is not a true 4x4, who needs one anyway?
i dont like compact trucks its to silly i want a truck not a soccer mom suv.the local junk yard here has 2 broncos and one is in very good shape body wise but im sure there is no engine in it.i would love to buy it somehow and drop an engine into it.i think its an 88 bronco 2 tone looks nice to bad there gonna crush it.
Call 'em and ask how much they'll take for it,You could always end up with a good parts truck for around 500. I gave $500 cash for my last one(88-5.0l) and it ran. The guy sold it cause it burned oil. I replaced the valve cover gaskets and it runs great.
They will make one. But you or I won't be interested. It will be a all wheeled drive junk. As far as trucks go if Ford didn't make super duty, I wouldn't buy new Truck not that I can afford it. My 94 F150 out rides ,hauls ,and classes the 2003 F150 company truck I have. I'm looking for the right Bronco right now for my Sunday going to church truck .
I am an Internet/Fleet Manager for a Ford dealership and I get asked about a new Bronco often. I have not heard anything about the near future, but the concept Bronco was based off of the Escape line and would be powered by a 2.0L turbodiesel. Escape?? Please...that thing would be more like a Bronco II not a full size. It would be as appealing as the H3, which isn't saying much. If they bring it back, they need to bring it back in a full size. I really like the Idea of a 6.0L two-door Excursion. I have seen some photoshopped pics online and they look insane!!! I would definitely go for one of those! I will have to go look for the photoshopped F-150 pics.
Come on guys look at it this way. I know they wouldn't make a new bronco that would hold a candle to anything we have but if they produced one I would hope it would be a restyling of the first ones 66 to 77. To me that is THE Bronco. I consider my 87 and 88 to be short f-150s with more seats and a fiber top(not taking anything away from 'em cause I couldn't part with em and love em) but every box i've ever been in or around was one of the most amazing machines i'd ever seen, the only reason I don't have one is cause I can't find one in my price range that's worth it. As I said before offer me the concept with the small diesel and i'll stand in line to put my name on the list for one. The styling on the concept blows away any excursion short box or any other idea I've heard or seen. To me it's more the idea, look what they did with the mustang, I haven't liked one since 71 until they retro styled it to what we have now. And talk about a selling point the older generation wants it cause it reminds em of what they had back then and the new generation wants it cause it looks amazing and most of all............different. For those who offroad, there's a reason there's so many jeeps out there, light, rugged, powerful and most important small. I'll take the concept as is just give it to me.
I somewhat agree with ag30265. Retro styled vehicles seem to be appealing to many who remember the originals. IMO, the new mustang is the best example of retro styling. I have seen the bronco concepts and it is not bad looking. It does have alot of styling cues from the 66'-77' Broncos. However, the mustang did not stray from its intended use....a car meant for speed. With that said, the Bronco should then be built for its original use, a rugged off road machine. I like the body, but the AWD stuff is a no no. It should be made into a wrangler competitor, built with solid axles a simple yet reliable 4wd system, and dare I say a V-8. If they can fit it, I think a 4.6L v-8 backed by a 5 speed manual would be cool. The originals had 289s and 302s so why not. The wrangler survived all of these years and have been kept pretty simple through its design changes IMO. Ford can do something similar and it would not cost that much to build.
