charging problem

charging problem
My truck is a 1988 ford truck f150 v8 302 was having problems with the battery keeping charge so I bought a new one and replaced the alternator as well now truck turns on but within 3 seconds the battery light comes on in the dash what causes this. I also put in 4gauge wire all around

If not check the Yellow wire with a white stripe, it should have battery voltage on it at the alternator.
Did you put the White wire with a black stripe back on?
