I bought new a 2004 F-150 XLT Supercab 4X4 with heavy duty everything. I've put only 7,400 miles on it. I just took it in to the dealer because the charge warning light has been coming on, I'm getting a wheel hop when turning sharp corners, and the rear sliding window stopped working. The dealer says since it's one week over the 3 year warranty, I'll have to pay for diagnostic charges, new alternator, repack of the differential, and new rear window switch. Altogether, it will cost me about $3,000 when I pick it up this afternoon. $3,000 in repairs after 7,400 miles!!! I'm very sorry that I bought a Ford. That's a mistake I'll never make again. Is it any wonder the company is going down the tubes?
well, if your car had all these problems and your warrenty is only one week over you should have taken it in 2 weeks ago to have everything looked at....even though i would speak to the manager and who ever i had to and i woulnd't pay it...refuse to pay it because it's only one week and you shouldn't have problems after 7,400 miles.....
Your not alone. Ford will use any and every excuse to avoid warranty repairs. You could be 1 hour over and they will try to charge you. The alternator and rear diff repairs could be done at any competent local repair facility. The rear window is a known problem with the motor corroding internally. That could get expensive. My advise is to bring it up with the warranty administrator at the dealership. Maybe you can get some relief. If not, I wouldn't give more money to ford. Give it to a deserving local independent garage instead.
well, my big question is i guess....did all of these problems happen after your warrenty was up....it seams a little weird to me how you have all these problems within one week of your warrenty ending????
Yeah If you are out of warranty then I would find a good local independent shop. You probably could have had the same work done for $1500-$2000. Or, try buying the part online and instaling yourself.
Hmm... So all these problems sprang up immediately after the warranty expired. Odd. Otherwise you would surely have addressed the issues while it was still under warranty.
It's a well kept secret (shame on me for sharing) that Fords fall apart after 3 years or 7,500 miles. We all just drive them anyway because we have the money and the patience to deal with the constant, never ending, just out of warranty problems.
Or maybe not. Maybe you just need a place to vent because you're mad you didn't address the problems while it was still under warranty and you want to blame Ford instead of the one who procrastinated in the first place. Nah.

The warranty covers problems based on the time and mileage. If you let it run out, what can you expect? I'll bet every problem you outlined was known before the warranty ran out.
I'm willing to bet that he doesn't even own the truck he speaks of or any FORD for that matter... Just doesn't add up. !st post too, hmmm.
Were probably waisting our time on this thread anyways. He joined and made this thread on 2-23-07 and this was also the last time he has logged back in.
Nope it happened to me and several of my friends . Although they all went to dodge I just buy used Ford trucks if it have over 40000 never have any problems
They Ford bit me 3 times . on new trucks 86 F150 300-6 7 MPG they wouldn't fix it.
95 F150 302 5 sp 4x4 Ran bad no power and 10 MPg If lucky. It was 3rd with 302 5sp 3:55 rears and it got way less MPG than all others. Last was a 2003 F150 kept 6 months . lots of problems ,seats sucked . Ford has not made good F150 since 96. I run 2003 F250 now its fine. But I just get truck used now. As for this guy I never take anything to any garage and don't say if you have to replace I want to know first . But your right if have problem take in that week.
