Cluster Colors

Does anyone know where i can find dash cluster wire colors for my 03 SD without having to buy a book of some sort. Or if haynes or any of them tell you what wire is for what application on the cluster (ie: temp, speedo, batt)

What are you intending to do? Your cluster is very complex with a microprocessor, battery saver relay, and communication wiring to the engine computer. There are no more wires to sending units on the engine(except the oil pressure and the fuel level gauge). The other gauges and warning lights receive their info from the engine computer by communication network.

on my 03 tahoe i can unplug my speedo wire so that my speedo only doesnt work and it stops the mileage with everything else working on the cluster. I just dont think its the same color on my ford or if it acts the same way.

Your speedo works off the speed sensor input. The way I am understanding how it works, the speed sensor raw signal goes right into the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster computer processes the raw signal and drives the speedo, and also sends the new speed signal info on the network to the abs computer, the cruise control, and the engine computer.

So if you get rid of the signal, you are going to get errors on all those systems, the cruise control won't work, and the tranny won't shift correctly.
