Ok, in a recent reply, my reference to Superlift's Superunner steering was immediately dismissed as being expensive and a waste of time. This contradicts every single other report I have ever gotten about this system. I have been told that it puts the steering linkage in much better alignment with the axle halves for TTB trucks that it was designed for. Hence, all but elimiating the Ford TTB version of "bump steer" Now I come to you, my fellow Bronco owners, for some real clarification. Performance Unlimited even makes Bullet Proof, Rock Proof, etc. tie rods etc. for this system. I find it hard to believe that its all that useless much less not worth the money considering the kit from P.U. to upgrade the tierods is less than $400 and the only components necessary beyond that are the "drag link" and "idler arm" from Superlift. So, what is the verdict? a worthwhile mod. or not?
When I bought my lift the 4 wheel parts guy that helped me strongly recommened the superunner steering. He has a 96 bronco just like mine. We went out side the shop and he showed me the setup on his bronco. I looked it over and I was impressed. I think it is a great idea, but not somthing absoultly needed. It puts all the steering componets at the angles it should be with a lifted truck. It is expensive but I will be buying it for my bronco as soon as I have the extra money. I would like more info about the stronger parts you are talking about.
Performance Unlimited makes replacement tierods and rod ends for Early Broncos that get rid of the ever-despised "inverted Y" and they also make the same kinds of tierods and end for Superunner steering equiped late model Bronco's and F series trucks. The DOM tubing, beefy rod ends, and grade "9" hardware make for a steering linkage that some have used (as a last resort) as a winch point and the linkage has survived to steer another day! There are three grades of tierods. Bullet Proof, Race Proof, and Rock Proof. As you might guess they are each a step more rugged than the previous. The rock proof carries a caution that some trucks could experience some clearance problems due to the sheer diameter of the tierods. performanceunlimited.com is the site.
