I BOUGHT mine at 110K I did just click over 111K the other day though, but I'm less than a grocery store hop away from 111111 which should look pretty cool....for a mile or less. 8)
You're just BEGGING for a diesel guy to come here and say HIS truck is just getting broken-in at six-figures, ain't you?.......(haha)
Good grief...I'm so sick of hearing that! Diesel engines are "broke in" just like every other engine. Sometimes quicker due to the long stroke that affords more time for the rings to seat with each stroke plus the higher cylinder pressures help to keep the rings against the wall. If you really think all the bearing surfaces have to mate then you are not correct. OIL seperates all metal to metal contact in the engine.
Diesel engines last longer simply because they turn slower.

The V10's service life or life before rebuild (provided proper maintenace is done) is 250K. Last thing you gotta worry about is the engine. It's the tranny you should be thinking about now.
I bought mine with 114k on it and didn't even consider it a buying factor. I figure that this V10 is good for an easy 200k+ as long as I do regular maintnenace.
last time I checked even IF (big if) the oil burner is used that long (most people trade WAY before that...can't drive an "old" vehicle ya know! LOL)...the rest of the truck is the SAME! Same rear end, drive shafts, doors, mirror motors, seats, shocks, etc...so with "proper" maintanence regardless of WHAT motor is under the hood...our Ex's will go many many miles...well maybe the front ends (ball joints, tie rods, etc) will go FASTER on a PSD Ex due to the added 600#'s that motor weighs!!!
All in all these trucks are AMAZING haulers. They do require normal common sense and maintanence though regardless of what motor...
i_eat_hybrids,
Don't worry about the mileage just enjoy this BEAST! We need to keep them maintained as Ford chose to try and replace it with a longer version of the 1/2 ton Expy...NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!

That was an attempt at good-natured humor....a "hands-across-the-water" gesture....and was a gentle jibe against diesel owners like me more than anything. Try to look for the subtleties a little more instead of the troll under the bridge. It's all in good fun.

x_hemi, im not worried about the mileage on bit. I just thought it would be fun to make a thread out of it and announce it to fte. Im happy that the truck made it this far with out any problems and didnt turn out to be a lemon.
Guys im not trying to start another gas vs diesel thread. I thought it would be fun because im in the 100k club. This thread should be all good and fun.

Even when our Excursions die (when they reach 300K or beyond), im just gonna hand it over to someone who can restore cars and trucks, someone like chip foose, and have them restore it like they do with old muscle cars. Its to good of a truck to let it just rot away in the junk yard.
Has anybody ever seen an excursion on overhaulin? hahahaha. In the next 10 to 15 years we might.
