Reconnecting the quick connect

got a ranger 1988 , replaced tranny with 1993 model some things are a little different, but the quick connect wont connect, is there a trick? or is it because its a 1993 tranny i cant see a difference in the fiting, anyway when you push the fiting in it doesnt stay, do i need to pull that metal ring out from the slave cylinder and bend the tabs to grab on to the quick connect or is there something im missing on how to connect it..

i guess no one else knows how to reconnect the slave clutch hydraulic hose either since i havent gotten a reply,

It should connect, unless ford used a different fitting on thier slave cylinders from year to year.

Maybe use the slave off the old tranny?

ok let me ask the question this way the white ring that locks it in i assume has to be pushed in as you push the metal line in or hold the metal line in and push the white retainer ring in, or vice versa?
