Have a question about my 80457, 4 barrel 600cfm, vacuum secondary carb. Just got done rebuilding it and it idles like crap. Plenty of power and sounds great over 1200 rpm but keeps wanting to bog and die. I cant find idle mixure screws on the primary???? Is this a 4160 that is non-adjustable? Now what do I do? I adjusted the floats, but I am out of things to look at other than vacuum leaks, (which I would think would take the rpms higher) or timng issues. Thanks inadvance.

Mine has mixture screws right in the sides of the front metering block. Did you remove then during rebuilding and not reinstall them?

There are no screws on the metering plate. I believe this carb is from a mid 80s mustang that has the screws in teh base plate. I have to remove the tamper proof part of the base and adjust the screws...

Oh, I was thinking of another carb. Yes there are some plugged in the base plate. I think there are actually 4 of them. 2 front, 2 rear. Not positive on the rear ones.
The list# 80457 is an aftermarket carb. I have one on a 460 right now.
