i have the square 4 prong outlet under the ashtray for the brake controller but there is no wire out back for it and there is no fuse in the fuse box (under the hood) and one can't be put into it but i checked the voltage on the plug under the ashtray and there was voltage.
So does that mean I can take the blue wire and run it all the way back to the plug and call it good?
does there need to be a fuse inline with the blue wire between the plug and the trailer plug out back?
I got the wires just taped up out back for an accessory and trailer brake. and dad is talking about buying a bigger camper so it would be nice to have those 2 things.

The 4 prong plug C210 in the diagram below has the red wire fused at 30 Amps.

Yes but right now it stops at C205 in the diagram, C205 is a pass through plug in the firewall.

ok was going to start wiring it in and was checking for voltage and hooked the test light to the white ground wire and checked each prong and this is what i came up with.
white ground
light green voltage when brake pedal pushed
red no voltage
blue no voltage
What i have gathered is the red is my constant 12v and there is no voltage there at all so do i need to cut that wire and find a constant 12v source and wire to that. The red and blue wires go to the firewall plug. then run the blue wire to the trailer plug

If you look at the diagram in the second link that I posted in post #4 you will see that the red wire does not stop at the firewall. It passes through in plug C202 and goes to the Engine Compartment Fuse box and is fused by a 30 Amp fuse. I think you said above this fuse was missing.
The rest of the wires you tested seem to test as they should.

yes that is right but there is not any connectors in the box were a fuse can slide into. The spot is there just not any connectors. I guess i didnt look for the red wire coming to the fuse box. how do i go about getting power to the red wire
If you need me too I can probably take a couple close up pics wednesday or thursday.

You can cut the red and blue wire at the firewall connector and splice a wire on to each of them. Run the red wire to the large stud of the starter relay on the fender battery side. Make sure you put a 30 Amp inline fuse in this wire near the starter relay. Run the blue wire not fused to the plug on the rear of the truck.
Do you need a diagram of the plug on the rear?
I love photos of under hood or under dash items and wiring, if you take them just email them to me with year, engine size and model to this email address.
