[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Oct-02 AT 03:16 PM (EST)]ok, i drove to a friends house, everything went fine. we did some running around and went back to his house. no i went to start my 79 and all it does is crank. when i let go of the key it sounds like it is about to start but nothing happens. all my electrical is fine, i am getting fuel in my carb, but nothing is happening. any opinions out there? do you thing ignition module, coil, cap and rotor???? please help. i don't want to have to drive my wifes chevy around!!!!
i also have this posted in the engine forum also.
You've got the right idea. I'd start at the coil and work my way to the plugs until I find the proble. Sounds like your not getting a soark. Could be anything betwen the coil and the plugs. Use the tried and true, "trial and error" methood. Good luck
Don't forget to check your timing chian/gears. I had the same thing happen to a 79 LTDII with a 351.....it ran great until I went to start it the next day......:-X23 it would sound like it was starting to fire up but just died when the key was released.... Good Luck
well, i just wanted to let you all know, i went back to my truck and i pulled mu coil wore off to see if i have spark and it fired right up....go figure. well i plan on getting all new ignition stuff for it, thx for the help
