I'm involved in a "conversion" that involves an '83 cab with a factory tachometer in the dash, originally set up on a 300 six. The "recipient" has a 302, and was never equipped with a tach (it's also an '83). Can this tach be modified to monitor the 302?
Since it senses the pulses to the coil, I was wondering how 12,000 pulses per min for a V8 at 3000 RPM would indicate the same as 9000 pulses for a six at the same speed. On after market tachs I've used, there were separate connections for eights and sixes.
i too am involved with replacing my cluster (90 Bronco - 300six) going from no tach to factory cluster with tach. i am accumulating a few components to hopefully have everything i can possibly need ready when i begin the switch. if i am reading this thread correctly, everything should be ready to plug-in. right? if anyone has info i should be aware or otherwise prepared for, please advise. thank you kindly
