look at the oil pan on the transmission and sketch a drawing of its shape and the number of bolts. go to Auto Zone and they will tell you the model and get the filter. The filter is inside the oil pan, it noeeds to come off and clean out the crud. IT will hold about 5 quarts. I think you truck should have a drain plug on the bottom of the converter element and you can get another 8 quarts out of that if you pull the plug. reinstall the plug with pipe dope if you remove it. I believe your transmission takes MERCON V, but check with Auto Zone after you get the pan design.

You have a 4R70, check the top of the tranny dipstick it tells you which Mercon to use, but MerconV will work in the 4R70.

You can also pull the sending line to the tranny cooler and turn the engine on to drain out 95% of the fluid. After all that there will still be fluid in the pan so be careful when you drop it, the filter simply slides on and off the pick up tube.

I just changed mine this last weekend..Glaxie is right its a 4R70..Like Steve said there is a drain plug for your torque converter..On the bottom of your tranny is a rubber plug just remove it and have someone bump your ignition with you underneath when you see a small pipe plug stop..Remove it. It while take awhile for it to drain, remove the bolts from your pan, watch out because fluid will go everwhere, take the bolts out gradually leaving them on one side so it will pour out at an angle... When you have it off pull your old filter off.. Be sure and get the old rubber gasket off it usually sticks in your transmission, you can get it out with a small screw driver BUT don't gouge, scratch the tranny, mine came out easily. matter of fact it was the easiest fluid change I have had..The hardest part was trying to line up the torque converter plug especially by yourself...Hope this helps even though it is several days late!
