hello to everyone. I have a 2000 ford f-250 it has a 188000 miles on it.
last week the check engine light started coming on and now at low speeds
has alot of white smoke. when speed increases to highway the smoke goes
away. I have had the computor checked and there are no codes coming up
as to anything being wrong. If anyone knows or has any suggestions as to
what my problem is it would be greatly appriciated>
I hope that you did not have the same problem that I had. I bought my 00 F-350 used and the guy abused it. The truck ran strong but it started to have alot of white smoke coming out. I hate to say but it was my turbo eating itself. I would recommend that you pull off your air intake hose and check the turbo shaft for play. That is the only thing I can think of. Good luck!
If the check engine light came on, then a code was set. Most readers cannot retrieve codes from our trucks simply because they are not compatible. Technically, the Powerstroke is not OBD-II compliant, so your basic scanner can't read the non-OBDII codes.
Most folks on this board, as well as myself, use Autoenginuity to read and diagonse codes and issues.
I have changed out the fuel filter about a week ago. Also I've been checking and it
seems to smoke more at the start off or when its going up a hill I am not that familiar
with the power stroke motor yet thats why I'm grateful for the help you guys are
forwarding to me.
