Hey folks ... I've got a good one, hope maybe I can find a little help.
I've got an `85 F150 with a 351W ... easy enough. Now, here's my dilema ....
when I go out in the morning to warm the ol' girl up, the heat/defrost won't fire up until I put the truck into gear, then back in park. On top of that, the signal lights won't work either ... until I put it into gear. No biggy since I don't need the signal lights when the truck is in park in my driveway, but I thought I'd throw it in... hehe Sad thing is ... it doesn't ALWAYS do this.
Could be a gumed up ignition switch. Mine needs cleaning up at the least because when I start it I have to make a conscious effort to turn the key back to the "run" position or none of my accessories will work.
Thanks for the info. Now that you mention the "gummed up" ignition, I do in fact from time to time have to turn the key back a little after I start the engine, otherwise I'll be looking at a starter replacement as well. I'll give it a good cleaning once the weather turns a bit nicer.
