BFG MT or Super Swamper SSR
2000 F150 5.4 4x4 ORP 3.55 auto
I really need new tires bad. Mine are litterally bald. If they have 1mm of tread on the front, I'd be suprised.
Between those two which would you run? I'm looking in the 285 or 32 inch range.
I've actually had them both and liked them both. I can't recall which one was quieter on road. I'm guessing that the SSR will be better in rain, snow, and ice due to the siped lugs.
Tread wear is not really a concern for me as I've only driven about 24K in the last 3 years and that will probably go down even more. But if one lasts substancially longer, that's a plus.

I have 285/70/R17's on my truck which is exactly like yours but an '01. They are the BFG MTR's and I love them. I can't hear them at all when I'm driving, although I'm sure the noise is audible to people on the road. Whether the windows are up or down, or driving interstate or not, they are quiet and give me no resonance or rumbling when I drive 80mph.
Oh, and, they look badass too!

I saw your pics in another thread and it's exactly the look I'm after.
Do you have the 3.55 gears as well? If so, how's the power and MPG. Not that I'm really concerned with MPG as it sucks, has always sucked, and will always suck. But just for kicks.

Yeh it was an overcast day and you can't really see the tires that well, but as far as MPG etc.. goes, It's pretty bad. I may be able to get near 300 to a tank if I drive all interstate, but city, I'll be lucky to get 260 sometimes.
I do have the 3.55 gears and I don't have a problem with them at all. I pull my dad's 21' bayboat which I think with the trailor weighs around 4000 pounds. I know that isn't that heavy, but I think they do fine. I would rather 3.73 or better but I don't think it's worth the money right now.
