Just installed my MKO 5" and love it. There is a problem with fit of the down pipe. I have an early 99 and am pretty sure the downpipe is the same as the post years. Seems I can't get the DP flange to match up perfectly to the flange on the turbo. This is letting the DP hit the block just below the passenger side valve cover when disengaging the clutch from a stop. I will tinker and try to realign yet again (two hours trying to fix already). I had to copy Ron's idea on the stove paint and am glad I did.
Awesome sound! Wish we could straight pipe in Utah though.
Other than using a ball peen hammer to make a nice indent to get the clearance, i could only help you out by saying that in some states, the turbocharger is technically considered a "muffler".
i had a problem , there is a bolt on the back of the head that has ground attached to it,, remove the bolt and put the ground anywhere ealse on the block, and you should be fine, stillneed some finess to get it in but with some patience you get it in,,,
welcome to BIG CANOON club, or as they say Welcome To The Dark Side

con grads on the stove pipe..and welcome to the dark side..I painted mine in October and it still looks new under there. I got the idea from strokin...and very glad I did it too...ill do it again next fall.. I know the spot you are talking about up by the head...I got mine with in an 1/8 of and inch from hitting and it hasn't moved..took me a while and few choice words... but it went..
All finished now. Had to tap the DP in two different spots for clearance. I would suggest to anyone getting ready to install an exhaust to do this if there looks like there could be a problem. First Try to get without having to dent in, but if there is any question in your mind do it. I was wearing the DP thinner in just a matter of 5-10 miles and am guessing would have had a hole in months. I'm sure the amount I had to dent in is insignificant to performance. The reason I would suggest is the calmps we use crush the pipes together making an absolute nightmare to get apart.
